Enterprise Development Corporation Expands Board of Directors
Leaders from Top Legal and Public Accounting Firms to Support Emerging Tech. in South Florida

Boca Raton, FL – September 19, 2002 - The Enterprise Development Corporation (EDC), a public/private partnership specializing in providing strategic business development services to emerging science and technology companies, announced today that David Bates, Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart, P.A. and Mario de Armas, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP have joined its Board of Directors.

“Gunster Yoakley has a long history of assisting entrepreneurs succeed in the South Florida market and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on the Board of the Enterprise Development Corporation,” said Bates.

David Bates, Partner, Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart, P.A. is co-chairman of the firm’s Technology Practice Group and past head of the firm’s Corporate Department. He has extensive experience counseling companies, both public and private, in mergers and acquisitions, technology and Internet law and general corporate matters.

Bates has served as President of the Gold Coast Venture Capital Club since 1996 and is founder and currently Vice President of the Treasure Coast Venture Capital Forum. He is extremely active in the community and has participated in Leadership Palm Bach County, the InternetCoast, the University of Florida Student Affairs Steering Committee, Junior Achievement, and the Palm Beach County Jewish Federation where he is co-chairman of the Rothschild Society. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida and his Juris Doctor and Masters in Business Administration from Tulane University.

Mario de Armas is an Audit and Business Advisory Services partner in PwC’s Technology, Information, Communications and Entertainment Practice (“TICE”). As a member of the TICE practice, Mario works with PwC’s entertainment and media clients in South Florida, the U.S. and Latin America. Mario’s expertise is both in traditional media such as publishing, and television and radio broadcasting, as well as new media and other technology companies. Mario also serves PwC clients in distribution and higher education. Mario is a member of the Board of Trustees and past Chairman of Dade Marine Institute, Inc., a United Way Agency working with court supervised youth in Miami-Dade County and is a member of the Board of Directors and past Chairman of the Downtown Chapter of the FICPA.
Mario is a Florida CPA and received a BA in Accounting from Florida International University and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of Florida. He joined Price Waterhouse in 1987 after completing business school. Mario was on tour in Barcelona, Spain from 1991 to 1994 where he served US and British multinationals with operations in Spain.
