Miami, Florida. Powerpetro, a Web-based marketplace for petroleum products, announced plans to demonstrate an electronic fuel storage tank inventory monitor that utilizes a satellite uplink to remotely monitor and report tank levels. The demonstration will take place October 03 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The invitation list includes the island’s banks, telephone companies, hotels and other industrial concerns that operate multiple above-ground fuel storage tanks. The technology, with a significant installed base in the U.S., was developed by SmarTank, Inc., based in South Carolina. Smartank is leading the technology market by supplying the only completely WIRELESS monitoring system. Not only are the monitors a cutting-edge technology but can be easily installed and redeployed in less than 3 minutes without customer involvement. It’s about the size of a 16oz can and screws onto a 2” bung on any above-ground tank. There are NO wires; requires NO phone line or power. The device reports measurements every three hours via satellite uplink. Users can check the status of any monitored tank on a real time basis via the Internet.
