State Saves Over $1 Million through Enterprise Agreement

Tallahassee, Florida – The State Technology Office (STO), in partnership with Software House International (SHI) and Microsoft Corporation, announced today that the State of Florida has saved over $1.7 million through an enterprise-wide agreement for the acquisition of Microsoft products.
“The State Technology Office has strived to represent the State as a single customer in the purchase of IT products and services to obtain the lowest cost and the highest quality. By leveraging the purchasing power of multiple entities, the STO continues to save Florida millions of dollars through aggregated purchasing,” remarked Kimberly Bahrami, State Chief Information Officer.
This latest agreement provides a cost savings through the State’s decision to enroll over 75,000 personal computers (PCs) into the Microsoft Enterprise Agreement between October 1, 2001 and September 27, 2002.
The State of Florida successfully accomplished two savings thresholds. The first, by obtaining 50,000 PC licenses enrolled by June 30, 2002; the second, by obtaining 75,000 PC licenses enrolled in the enterprise agreement by August 31, 2002. By obtaining the second threshold, the STO was able to add additional savings to each PC enrolled.
There are currently 56 organizations participating at all levels of government, including local, state, and county governmental entities.
Designed as an incentive for government organizations to lower costs on Microsoft products by making aggregate purchases, the State of Florida will save over $2.2 million per year over the course of the next three years.
