CYBERGUARD LAUNCHES LINE OF HIGH VELOCITY SECURITY APPLIANCES

– Version 5.1 Firewall/VPN Appliances Deliver High Speed, Intelligent PKI Certificate Management and Stateful High-Availability –

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (November 19, 2002) – CyberGuard Corporation (AMEX: CFW), the technology leader in network security, announced today that it will begin shipping a line of high velocity firewall/VPN appliances to customers around the world. Leveraging new, faster Intel-based hardware platforms, the new appliances deliver more than double the speed of earlier SL, KS and FS models.

The company is also broadening its appliance line to offer two models of its FS appliance – FS250 and FS500 – designed for low to moderate bandwidth needs; two models of its popular KS appliance – KS1000 and KS1500 – for large enterprises; and the SL2000, a powerhouse model for extremely high-volume, demanding environments.

In addition to increased speed, the company is releasing version 5.1 of its underlying firewall technology with new and enhanced features including

· stateful high availability – The function that triggers a standby firewall to take over automatically for an active firewall in the event of a problem is now state synchronized to provide continuity of service through the firewall.
· intelligent GUI-based PKI certificate management – Comprehensive public key infrastructure (PKI) support now provides for managing certificates easily through the graphical user interface (GUI).
· faster VPN acceleration – New cryptographic acceleration quadruples virtual private network throughput in the KS and SL models.
· GUI control for setting network interface card (NIC) speeds – New function allows users to configure and specify NIC performance conveniently through the GUI.
· enhanced denial of service (DOS) protection – Dynamic, preventive approach to identifying and preventing the DOS attacks that can cause a network to fail under a flood of activity requests.
· spam prevention – Advanced feature allows spam blocking on the firewall.
