MyST Technology Partners and Serence Inc. announce partnership committed to fast growing enterprise knowledge distribution space.
KEYSTONE, COLORADO, December 12, 2002 - MyST Technology Partners (myst-technology.com), developers of knowledge-worker productivity and efficiency solutions, and Serence Inc. (www.serence.com), developers of information notification and awareness solutions, today announced they will team in a development and distribution agreement.
Together, their combined products provide an enterprise solution for knowledge-related information capture, publication, and discovery in a highly scalable and secure Web services framework. This partnership will provide enterprise customers with software based on XML standards, and will deliver new methods for information organization and distribution, while increasing knowledge awareness and reducing associated costs.
According to Stephen Kuhn, President and CEO at K1 Associates (www.k1associates.com), a firm specializing in technology transactions, mergers & acquisitions, and strategic partnerships, which recently deployed the combined products, “MySmartChannels makes it easy for our partners to create small, narrowly focused collections of unstructured knowledge content. We now have the capacity to zero-in on a topic, problem, or idea, and organize thoughts, links, notations, and documentation around it without passing Word documents back and forth. Combined with KlipFolio, I can deliver my newsletter content directly to my customer's desktop without any additional effort. We also plan to use MyST-generated Klips for secure knowledge management activities.”
“Using the Serence information notification and delivery platform, MyST applications enhance the ability of knowledge-workers to use tacit information to create relevant and reusable observations, and begin to open the reality of the next generation Internet” said Bill French, Co-founder of MyST Technology Partners, “Imagine relevant information objects that find people, instead of the other way around...” To achieve this, knowledge-workers need a model for capturing and self-organizing observations and other knowledge-based content. MySmartChannels, the first application built on the MyST platform, provides this.”
With more than 20 years developing successful new products, the MyST founders have turned their attention to creating an XML Web services platform that embraces knowledge-workers. According to F. Andy Seidl, MyST Co-founder and Chief Architect of the MyST platform, “MySmartChannels is a simple application that focuses on people with expertise and observations critical to the operation of a business. By providing an easy-to-use framework for creating knowledge-content, MySmartChannels allows users to organize and manage their own collections of tacit knowledge content that can be shared and subscribed to by other people in the organization and proactively disseminated through KlipFolio.” The MyST platform also provides an extensive SOAP Web services interface that can be used to integrate and reuse this expertise content in many applications and processes throughout the organization”.
“We are impressed with the advances MyST has already achieved in developing a domain expertise and knowledge-content platform that leverages the KlipFolio desktop information tool,” said Allan Wille, Serence President and CEO. “MySmartChannels provides diverse opportunities for knowledge-workers such as intellectual property capture, knowledge-blogging, and self-organizing domain expertise content. When coupled with KlipFolio, notification and awareness of MyST-based content transforms the information landscape for knowledge-workers to a personally relevant and highly focused knowledge environment. We are confident that the Serence/MyST product combination will meet the enterprise knowledge-worker’s need to receive critical, targeted information as it happens.”
Serence provides a versatile, standards-based notification and awareness platform that currently leverages several hundred available news channels and other useful content feeds. “It’s a natural evolution to see KlipFolio finding its way to the enterprise desktop”, added Mr. Wille, “and leveraging KlipFolio’s inherent ability to provide friction-free access to content that is available in HTML and XML formats, MyST and MySmartChannels are the perfect compliments to creating enterprise knowledge solutions.”
