FORT MYERS, FL, March 3, 2003 -- NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: NEOM), said today it has an agreement with Tibbs Information Systems, Inc. (TIS), to "team-up" to compete for Homeland Security and government contracts, on which they will also "partner" with major high technology industry leaders.
NeoMedia, based in Fort Myers, is an innovator and international leader in print-to-Internet and other technologies which make information faster and easier to access. TIS, based in Newark, Ohio with offices in Hot Springs, Virginia, is a provider of high quality information systems based on leading-edge technologies. Both companies are located in HUBZones, as described and designated by the U.S. Small Business Administration in its Historically Underutilized Business Zones Program.
Companies Have ‘Synergistic Approach' Chas Fritz, NeoMedia's chairman and founder, said NeoMedia and TIS "have a synergistic approach to solving traditional and emerging problems using leading edge technologies." He cited e-authentication, homeland security, and voter application and identification as "at the top of the problem-solving list for U.S. and foreign governments and the vendors on whom they rely.
"As HUBZone companies, NeoMedia and TIS have a leg up on competing for U.S. government contracts as partners of major companies," noting that "there is also a significant international market for applications on which NeoMedia and TIS are working."
"NeoMedia recognizes the added value of having a key partner such as TIS in competing for federal and state government business," said Fritz. "We believe the NeoMedia-Tibbs team will be seen as formidable in Homeland Security, e-authentication, and government supply chain applications, as well as the recent Help America Vote Act, which will receive some $4 billion in funding over the next three years."
Philip A. Tibbs, co-founder and president of TIS, agrees. "Our teaming with -- and the plans we have for a full joint venture agreement partner with -- NeoMedia provides a great opportunity to pool resources and our small firm know-how to make for a very significant partnership," he said. "NeoMedia's pioneering efforts in embracing radio frequency identification (RFID), voice recognition, bar-code scanning and other auto ID technologies put it at the forefront in our industry. We believe partnering with NeoMedia to be mutually beneficial as both companies share the goals of finding the best persons to work with and to make the world a better, safer place in which to live."
