IBM’s Andrew Hope Joins Enterprise Development Corporation Board of Directors

Boca Raton, FL – June 30, 2005 - The Enterprise Development Corporation (EDC), a public/private partnership specializing in providing strategic business development services to emerging science and technology companies announced today that Andrew T.J. Hope, Ph.D., Solutions Executive, IBM Healthcare and Life Sciences, joined its Board of Directors, bringing the total number of members to twenty-three. “EDC’s Board of Directors is made up of representatives from the region’s leading companies that share a passion for fortifying South Florida’s innovation industries, and IBM is no exception,” stated Jane Teague, Executive Director, EDC. “Andy has many years of experience in technology-related industries and shares EDC’s commitment to economic development, and we look forward to his guidance and participation in the coming months.”
“This is an exciting time for the Life Science industry not only in our region but around the globe,” stated Dr. Hope. “EDC is providing crucial services to emerging companies at a time when they need them the most, and I am delighted to join the EDC Board of Directors and contribute to the future success of the organization.” Andrew Hope joined IBM’s Life Sciences Division in January 2003. He brings over 18 years of experience in sales and marketing of complex software solutions and services to the pharmaceutical, agrichemical and specialty chemicals industries. In the Discovery area he worked with companies including Chemical Design Ltd. and Biosym Technologies (both now part of Accelrys) and spent six years with Aspen Technology, Inc. where he focused on delivering solutions in Development and Manufacturing. Prior to joining IBM he held the position of Director of Business Development at GeneFormatics Inc., an informatics driven drug discovery company using its proprietary technologies to identify unique target and lead combinations in protein families.
