Network of in-store dynamic digital video signage promotes new services and augments branding of Canadian locations as destination for business support services

CCi, a leading global retail automation company, today announced that The UPS Store in Canada, the country’s largest franchised retail network of business support services, has selected CCi’s Retail Digital Media Solution over competitive offerings to provide dynamic digital video signage at point-of-purchase at select The UPS Store locations across Canada. This is a significant development in Canada’s digital signage market as it represents a strong endorsement of the technology by a well established retailer and further strengthens CCi’s leadership in fully managed, end-to-end digital video signage solutions for Canadian retailers.

The project was awarded to CCi due to the comprehensive nature of their solution, which includes handling the selection of the technology infrastructure and content delivery system, as well as a complement of fully managed network services such as strategy, content development, programming, and measurement.

“CCi’s ability to provide a complete turnkey solution was a key factor in our decision to select them for the implementation of our digital video signage,” said Malcolm Houser, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of The UPS Store network in Canada. “It’s not enough to merely install video displays. You need a partner who understands the role of technology in retail, has a clear vision for digital signage, and has the value-added relationships and expertise in place to ensure success. CCi impressed us on all counts.”

Going Digital
The power of retail digital media in providing information and influencing in-store decisions was critical in the decision of The UPS Store to pursue a digital signage offering. The UPS Store Canada was looking to take advantage of the impact of digital media at the point-of-purchase to reach customers more effectively with targeted and branded messages.

Explains Houser, “The UPS Store experience is built on the foundation of delivering quality services and time-saving convenience. Increasing customer awareness of all our products and services is critical to our mission of being the destination for the best and most convenient small business and individual consumer business services. Digital signage is an excellent medium to deliver relevant and timely messages to our in-store customers to further enhance The UPS Store experience and educate them on all we have to offer.”

CCi has partnered with Sarasota, Florida based Real Digital Media (RDM) whose NEOCAST® digital signage solution has been specifically designed to create effective digital signage and to withstand the challenges of the retail environment, which include long operating hours, frequent changes of dynamic content, varied network architectures and the requirement for little or no on-site maintenance. NEOCAST® media players and hosted server software will be used to control the digital elements used in The UPS Store’s visual marketing campaigns.

“We are truly excited and committed to working alongside CCi, The UPS Store and its franchisees as they implement and realize the benefits of digital signage in their retail environment,” said Ken Goldberg, CEO of Real Digital Media “Working together as partners, we have all the ingredients to help these businesses meet their goals of increasing product awareness, enhancing the customer experience and delivering quality service.”

CCi will provide full integration and rollout services including project management, hardware sourcing, installation, and ongoing support.
