RALEIGH, N.C. (October 26, 2006) – Peak 10, the leading independent data center operator and managed services company, today announced the addition of Alliance One International, Inc. (“Alliance One”) (NYSE: AOI) to its growing and diversified portfolio of customers. Alliance One is a leading independent leaf tobacco merchant serving the world’s largest manufacturers. Peak 10 will provide the global leader with managed colocation services out of its world class data center facility located in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina.
“To keep pace with the changing, demanding and ‘always on’ business requirements of operating a global business, it is imperative that our technology infrastructure be secure and available,” said Bill Pappas, senior vice president and chief information officer with Alliance One. He further stated, “We selected Peak 10 to meet our business objectives based on their extensive expertise, strong technical resources and solid data center facility.”
Alliance One was formed in May 2005, as a result of the merger of DIMON Incorporated and Standard Commercial Corporation, both world leaders in tobacco processing. The new company brings together 200 years of combined experience and expertise, establishing a formidable global competitor with a clear focus on its customers, as well as a vision for the future. Alliance One selects, purchases, processes, packs, stores, and ships leaf tobacco. “We are pleased to work closely with a global leader like Alliance One,” said Greg Rollet, vice president and general manager of Peak 10 Raleigh. “Peak 10 is providing Alliance One the advantages of owning their own data center and the benefits of outsourcing to an industry leader. Our world class centers and engineering expertise will keep Alliance One’s technology assets local as well as secure and available.”
