Datamaxx Group and Wireless Matrix Complementary Relationship Benefits Public Safety Marketplace
Tallahassee, FL – (May 7, 2003) – The Datamaxx Group (Datamaxx) and Wireless Matrix Corporation (Wireless Matrix) forged their relationship in early 2002 based on synergies between the two companies. Datamaxx is known as a premier provider of comprehensive communication systems and integrated solutions to law enforcement, criminal justice, public safety, and government agencies. Wireless Matrix is known as a leading developer and provider of enterprise-class wireless data services for business-critical operations involving mobile workforces and remote assets. Since that time, they have not only successfully completed a multi-state public safety pilot project combining Datamaxx software products and secure services with Wireless Matrix communications products and services, but they have begun production deployments in two law enforcement agencies who recently increased their order by 45 units, with orders expected from six additional agencies in the near future.
“We did a great deal of research before teaming with Wireless Matrix”, noted Cal Engstrom, Manager of Product Planning and Research for Datamaxx. “The Wireless Matrix product has been optimized to virtually eliminate the latency commonly experienced with satellite-based data communications. Another outstanding feature is the ability of the device to seamlessly transition between terrestrial and satellite communications depending on available coverage.”
Wireless Matrix demonstrated a tremendous commitment to the public safety marketplace by developing a new hardware solution, the MBS PRO, as a direct result of feedback provided from the multi-state public safety pilot project. The MBS PRO combines both satellite and terrestrial-based technologies to provide ubiquitous coverage, in a form-factor that meets marketplace demands, and was designed and delivered by Wireless Matrix in less than six months.
"We leveraged our existing capabilities to deliver a custom-designed solution ideal and specific to the unique needs of the public safety community," said John Herring, President and CEO, Wireless Matrix. "Our entire team was excited and committed to meeting the challenges expressed by public safety agencies participating in the pilot program.”
Public Safety officials must operate anywhere an incident occurs, be that in an urban or rural environment. Relatively few rural areas are supported by public wireless data carriers, and costs to deploy and maintain private wireless data systems are beyond the reach of many of these agencies. This combination of products and services allows virtually any agency to deploy state-of-the-art wireless data communications without the significant capital expenditures required to deploy terrestrial-based systems.
“Integrating satellite capabilities with those of terrestrial-based systems produced a system that not only extends our customer’s reach beyond most existing public or private wireless data infrastructures, it does so in a cost-effective manner”, said Greg Rohm, Datamaxx National Sales Manager. “It also allows agencies to develop a migration strategy to not only replace CDPD-based systems as they are phased out, but enhance their level of service while doing so.”
Throughout the past year, Datamaxx and Wireless Matrix have undertaken several joint efforts to further their relationship and presence in the public safety marketplace. "Our organizations have implemented a seamless support capability that addresses the demanding requirements of the public safety marketplace," said Al Milligan, Executive Vice President, Business Operations of Wireless Matrix. “We have enjoyed tremendous success with the pilot programs and production level deployments, and look forward to continued deployments from our existing pilot sites.”
“We teamed with Wireless Matrix not only because of the technical superiority of their products, but because of their commitment to our marketplace”, said Kay Stephenson, President and CEO of Datamaxx. “Acting on feedback provided by our customers, Wireless Matrix developed a new product in less than six months – that has got to be some kind of record! We look forward to a long relationship that will continue to not only benefit Datamaxx, but the public safety marketplace as a whole.”
